96 ORC members ran backwards around Elephant Park on Sunday in extremely hot conditions.

The Bangert family took out all 3 placings in the 1.6km with recovering Iain McClean not far behind and no doubt back to his speedy best soon. Ricky Bangert also took out the 3.2km closely followed by Noah Lamrock and Logan Whitely. Janet Martin fought off daughter Sophie in the 3.2 with Ella Lamrock gaining 2nd place. A Mr Michael Halls made an appearance in the 3.2km, we look forward to seeing more of you on Sundays Michael. In the 4.8km there was still a fair bit of chatting even as dynamic duo Leanne Corcoran and Karen Neal took out line honours while Hugh and Alistair crossed the line together to beat David ‘5 and 2’ Gibson who wasn’t far behind. Parkrun Director Brad Simmons made the 6.4km look easy ahead of Tim Murphy and Adam Reeves while Anthony Daintith, Mike Cooper and Daryl Roweth enjoyed the sun so much they stayed out to complete the 9.6km. Dan Benton was also noted in the mix of the 9.6km. Great to see Dan taking a break from his busy training schedule to have a run back with the club. ORC loves welcoming back former members or those members that haven’t joined us for a jog for awhile and of course new faces. See our facebook page for details and times of our upcoming runs.

Gary Penrose was the handicap winner on Sunday, also good to see you back Gary.

Congratulations to those that were awarded milestone medals on the weekend. Kelly Gleeson (25) Blake Gleeson (25) Oliver Chandler-Sullivan (50), Aiden Whiteley, Sally Kitto (400), Helen Roberts (500) and Michelle Whiteley (500) all took home some silver.

On Wednesday evening in hot conditions Elephant Park was a sea of neon orange with 75 members hitting the track. Tim Murphy was the fastest around the park in a time of 10.20. Tim also scored a  PB as did the very consistent Mel Bolton. Mitchell Leatham was the winner.

The Club sends its best wishes to Brian Sharpe, one of our most distinguished members, who unfortunately suffered a nasty fall in the holidays. We hope you have a speedy recovery Sharpie, we are all thinking of you and Edwina.

We hope our leader Renai and her family enjoy the high seas of the South Pacific next week and trust there is RPM and HIT45 classes onboard to keep her busy. Meanwhile for those of us staying inland Sunday’s run is at Lake Canobloas at 9am in hopefully cooler conditions. Get your coffee orders in now.
