As our blood starts pumping the excitement is building and entries are coming in, now is the time for YOU to GET YOUR ENTRY IN for the Orange Colour City Running Festival only one week to go – It all happens 23rd& 24th February.  Go to our website www.orangecolourcityrunningfestival.com.au for details or enter at the Dept of Sport and Rec.  Individual entries for the 5, 10 half and full marathon will be taken at the Leisure Centre Bloomfield next Saturday 23rd February, 2013 1.00pm to 5.00pm  – NO ENTRIES WILL BE TAKEN ON THE DAY OF THE RACE.

Congratulations to Simon Lun (Marathon) Bec Halls (Half Marathon) John Connolly (10km) & Hugh Daintith (5km) who were the first ORC members to enter their respective  event.  They were presented with their bibs and t-shirts at runners on Wednesday.

For Wednesday the big news was the celebration of our 1000th entrant – Dan Miller who will be participating in the half marathon – Good luck Dan. With 95 runners on the track there was a lot of dust getting kicked up and the fast guys were doing a lot of it. Mitch Williamson was the winner but also set the fastest 3 lap time of 8m 30sec with a 6s PB. Estelle Dean 2s, Marnie Lenehan 8s, Logan Whiteley 11s, Brandon Connolly 22s & Liz Simpson 23s also got their best times ever over the Elephant Park course.

Last Sunday about 70 ORC members took on the picturesque Gosling Creek course with some new members and also some returning after a little lay off. Numbers were slightly affected due to members involved in triathlon in Bathurst. It was great to see Rod Draper scorching along the road again as he ran away from the field in the longer 9.6k run although young Jack Daintith showed good leg speed and endurance to finish not that far away in second place.

In the 4.6k Amber Rich also sped around the track to take out that run from Liz Simpson, while recently new member Justin Cantello was quickest of the men. Overall handicap winner on the day was seasoned runner Jim Rich who powered over the 9.6k course in 45.44 minutes.

Sunday Results: 2.3km Male – Brandon Connolly (11.11), Logan Whiteley, Graham Fahey.  2.3km Female – Kinisha Roweth (22.0), Judy Tarleton, Nell Vidler.   4.6km Female – Amber Rich (20.21), Liz Simpson, Ella Lamrock.  4.6km Male – Justin Cantello (22.48), John Connolly, Simon Triggs.  9.6km Male – Rod Draper (36.05), Jack Daintith, Anthony Daintith.  9.6km Female – Sue Dean (46.03), Kim Jarvis, Sharon Fahey.

This Sunday morning the run is back at Elephant Park with a 9am start and as usual there will be a variety of distances available to suit all runners.
