Counting cost of trip to Blackmores
Another weekend which saw runners divided between 2 events, the local run at Lake Canobolas and the Sydney Blackmores Running Festival. At Blackmores there were a lot of great performances, a lot of enjoyment with the atmosphere and picturesque surroundings and in some cases a little bit of cash spent shopping.
At the Lake, Kyle Ostini was a standout, winning the 1 lap (3.41k) run in a fast 13:59, which also saw him pick up the overall winner on the day. Jack Daintith and Mitchell Cooper finished 2nd and 3rd respectively in the 16 man field. With 18 starters in the ladies field Amber Rich (15:30) got away at the front as Lily Craig and Aimee Coulson-Knight led the chase group in.
Another 18 men and women took on the 2 lap run (6.82km), with the consistent Mark ‘Deek’ Chapman (30:14) finishing just in front of Mitch Essex, with Anthony Daintith holding off a fast finishing Joel Kitto for third. Of the ladies ‘Ironwomen’ Jess Richards (34:11) Cleared away from Kim Jarvis, Suzanne Coulson-Knight and Julie Chapman.
Numbers (66 starters) were down a little on Wednesday night at EP with school holidays in full swing. A nice warm afternoon saw runners struggle a little with the change, with Anthony Ellison 10:41 setting the fastest time, just ahead of Mark Chapman. Lynda Jones ran a very consistent 15:33 to take out the overall winner, while PB’s were ran by Clare McMillan 4s and Ava Peterson 5s.
This Sunday we will venture out to Clergate school with 3k, 5k & 10k distances available.
