EDITORIAL REPORT FOR SATURDAY’s CWD July 17th, 2021

At the moment, the COVID rules are continuing after government updates. Masks are asked to be worn to the run and then after you finish running. If you have been to Sydney in the last 14 days, please do not turn up to a club run.

Last Sunday, 65 members lapped it around the botanic gardens 1.6km loop completing 1 to 6 rounds.
The leading club members in each distance were:

1.6km
Female – Zoe Finlay 19:56.
Male – James Thomas 11:20, John Hannan 14:57, Graham Fahy 17:21.

3.2km
Female – Gracie Hosie 15:02, Tilly Thornton 18:12, Kate Thornton 19:03.
Male – Craig Penrose 19:49, Greg Thornton 20:27, Gary Taylor 21:55.

4.8km
Female – Lydia Parker 26:54, Claire Gates 28:34, Samantha Pluymers 28:34.
Male – Hugh Daintith 22:53, Duncan Blair 25:56, David Craig 26:20.

6.4km
Female – Judy Tarleton 54:10.
Male – Warwick Blackwell 31:33, Peter Regan 34:56, Michael Toholke 36:00.

8km
Female – Colette Robinson 52:15, Karren Skelton 57:36.
Male – Mike Cooper 38:31, Andrew McArdle 1:07:46.

9.6km
Female – Ayako Kusui 49:53, Luisa Sims 53:20, Kim Jarvis 1:00:16.
Male – Jack Daintith 37:25, Chris Pooley 40:47, Hunter Brown 41:33.

On Wednesday, 27 members braved the rain and came to Elephant Park to run or walk the wet weather track completing 2,3 or 5 laps around the 600m loop. Top three males were Jack Daintith 11:13, Luke Hockey 11:54 and Iain Mclean 12:11. Completing the top three ladies were Kim Jarvis 17:16, Samantha Pluymers 17:40 and Jane Fairgrieve 18:37.

There were no personal bests this week as it wasn’t the usual course.

Congratulations to our achievement medal receivers this week: Marie Regan 75 runs, Ayako Kusui 50 runs and Rosemary Elkington 25 runs.

For tomorrow’s run we are heading back out to an old friend. The location is Emu Swamp Road. The distances that will be marked out will be 3.2km, 4.6km, 7.5km and 10km. On Wednesday’s, timing begins at 4pm and will cease at 5:15pm. On Sunday’s, you must start between 8.30am and 9am. On both days still encouraging members to arrive, run and depart.

The safety guideline for this week is stick to the right-hand side of the road while running and to check for cars before you turn around at your selected distance.
