A drizzly Sunday morning still saw 67 members attend the weekly run which was held at CSU, Orange campus, members had the option of completing one to five laps of the track totalling 8.74km. Stewart Vidler was declared overall winner after completing three laps of the course in a time of 28:27. Iain McLean running on a high from his great performance last weekend in Canberra completed the five laps 8.7km in 36:23, followed by Daryl Roweth (40:49) and Nicholas Thomas (41:15). In the ladies, Ursula Wilson completed the five laps not far behind Iain in a time of 38:20, followed by Rhianna Fitzpatrick (40:47) and Tina Kiho (42:01). Members completing 6.96km’s were Jack Daintith (31:27), Tony Fitzpatrick (35:23), Steven Wensley (40:40), Beckie Plant (46:47) and Qin Zhang (47:08). Over in the 5.22km saw Mitchell Essex (22:07), Rikky Bangert (22:17) and Fred Bangert (25:52) and Julie Chapman (32:12), Carol Moss (50:29) and Anna Daintith (1:02:08). Two laps of the track (3.48km) saw close finishing times within the Simmons family, with Charlotte Simmons (15:10) finishing just before Dad – Brad Simmons (15:19) then closely followed by Lachlan Simmons (16:05). We then had those completing the 1.74km option, well done to Jack Dean (9:37), David Hunter (15:29) and Dan Hunter (15:52) in the males and Emma Rolls (9:45), Sue Dean (13:10) and Lucy Dean (13:13) in the females, to mention just a few.

On Wednesday night at Elephant Park 82 came out and enjoyed the Autumn weather, with Pip Farquharson deemed overall winner. Our top three for the 3km were Stephen Marin (10:40), Rikky Bangert (10:42) and Brad Simmons (10:48). The 2km saw Oliver Chandler-Sullivan (8:46), Gareth Thomas (9:15) and Oscar Chandler-Sullivan (12:14) and our 1km superstars were Cameron Ross (5:41), Lachlan Simmons (8:10), Graham Fahy (11:16) and Thomas Gibson (14:11). National Triathlon Championship’s were held in Hervey Bay this week where we had three members competing Connor Whitely, Jessie Dean and Kinisha Roweth. Jessie finished in a time of 45:41:00, Connor 1:00:33 and Kinisha stood strong at the start line and gave it everything she had, completing the swim leg and 6km on the bike before requiring to pull out as she had been unwell in the days leading up to and of the event. Congratulations to all and safe travels home.

Judy Tarleton competed in the Nowra Triathlon last weekend and completed the event in 1:42:25, great work Judy.

To provide an update on committee members from the AGM as held on the 4.4.2016, we have been fortunate enough to fill a couple more roles, those being one of the two Head Coordinators for the Orange Colour City Running Festival, thanks Stewart Vidler for stepping up and taking on this task and the Auxiliary role within the Runners Club for the Achievement Certificates, thanks goes out to Fiona Mackin. The following positions are still vacant Orange Colour City Running Festival 1 x Head Coordinator (shared role) and 1 x Secretary (shared role), if you are interesting in undertaking either of these positions please contact the clubs President, Renai McArdle.

I would like to throw a very big thank you to John Hannan who has been managing the timing system for the club whilst Michael takes a well-deserved break for the last couple of weeks.

Registrations are overdue, payment and an updated registration form required to be submitted as soon as possible to ensure you time is continued to be recorded.

Mark the date in your diary, Mother’s Day 8 May 2016, where we are again collaborating with Taste Orange, Apple Festival and holding the Apple Fun Run at the Botanic Garden, everyone welcome, non-members will need to sign a guest form come join us in a walk or run whilst enjoying the local gardens and an apple of course!

Sunday’s (24/4/2016) is at Gosling Creek – New Track, commencing at 9.00 am.

I would like to also take this opportunity to acknowledge ANZAC Day on Monday – Lest we Forget.
