Last Sunday, Orange Runners Club members conquered Mount Canobolas in the return of the Great Volcanic Mountain Challenge.  In the 5km Family Challenge event, it was our very own Amber Rich who was the overall winner in a time of 24:09.  Well done to young Hanna Gross who was 3rd overall in a time of 27:41, just ahead of Penny Chandler in 4thoverall.  Congratulations to Sam Gross who was 3rd overall in the men in a time of 24.12, just one second ahead of Blake Gleeson in 4th position.

It was a great turnout in the 11km 3 peaks event even with the cold and windy conditions.  Iain McLean was the first ORC member home in 18thposition in a time of 1:01:16.  Lachlan Ross was only 9 seconds behind Iain in 21st position and was 1st in his category.  Rikky Bangert also did very well finishing in 23rd position.  There were a large number of ORC members that were not far behind this trio (looking good for the upcoming UTA next month).  Congratulations to Leanne Corcoran who was 1st ORC female home in 39th position in a time of 1:06:42, not far ahead of Alicia Ross in a time of 1:12:35.  Caroline Hazelton was next ORC member home in 1:14:25.

Well done to all ORC members that took on the challenge and conquered the mountain – some amazing personal bests and members just challenging themselves to make it to the top!  Thank you to Michael Sharp in his assistance in undertaking the timing for the 5km event for the GVMC.
