Members up to the mountain challenge

With the Great Volcanic Challenge on Sunday and no organised Club run, a number of club members either volunteered or took on the challenge with some outstanding results recorded. Basil Baldwin (70+), Kinisha Roweth (15-17), Charlotte Simmons (12-14) and Luka Milhalich (12-14) all recorded wins in their age categories. Mark Chapman (50-59), Lachlan Ross (U12) and Ella Lamrock (U12) were 2nd in their respective categories, while Brian Rix (70+) and Jessie Dean (U12) picked up third placed. These were all outstanding efforts but it is an achievement in itself just to get to the top of that mountain.

On Wednesday night over 100 runners and walkers were out on the Elephant Park track with the Oakes family showing some great form with Georgia declared the overall winner with a time of 18:58, but not to be outdone dad, Justin, ran another Personal Best, this time 40s as he moves up towards the fast end of the table with an overall time of 13:29. Also securing PB’s were Tim Edmonstone (2s), Aidan Seale (4s), Owen Hogben (1m 25s), Jack Dean (following in mum’s footsteps – 1m 37s) and the Sunday long run specialist, turned sprinter, Amanda Gregor (40s). A big well done to Keagan Wilson, who completed the 3 laps for the first time, so that has to be a PB.

Please bring a plate of food/nibblies for the after meeting meal.

The on-line uniform shop is now available with a direct link to the suppliers on our website. There is something there for everyone and with the colder weather around the corner it would be a good idea to check out the hoodies.

OCCRF Running shirts XXS and XL and XXL available – only $20 see Kim or Judy.

This weeks Sunday run is at Jack Brabham and as daylight savings ends on Saturday night, don’t forget to change your clock before going to bed.

Tip of the week. Allocate some time to ‘warm up’ before and ‘cool down’ after a Club run / walk.

MOVING UP: Amanda Gregor took up running a year ago and is now regular competitor in the Orange Runners' Club's longer distance events.
