Orange Running Festival
The Orange Running Festival is owned and operated by the Orange Runners Club and is our major event for the year (the first event was held in 2007 as the Orange Colour City Running Festival). It will be held on the 7 & 8 March 2020 and consists of a 2K children’s run, 5K run/walk, 10K run, 21K Half Marathon and a 42K Marathon. The 5K event incorporates a schools and business house challenge.
The Orange Running Festival is affiliated with the NSW Regional Distance Running Championships.
Our aim is to deliver a successful and sustainable annual running festival that is financially viable with the ability to support local organisations where possible. We are encouraging health and fitness through participation and developing a Festival that is an anticipated event on the annual Australian running calendar.
The 2019 Festival attracted 1826 participants, (470 ran in the marathon and half marathon). This is a significant increase on the previous years. We are expecting more runners in 2020 as we relocate the event to Gosling Creek Reserve and improve the courses. Usually half of the participants are from outside of the Orange district.
We will continue our ties with the 2nd Orange Scouts and the NSW Rural Fire Service in 2020. In the last 6 years the Festival has donated $133,000 to local organisations and charities.
