Runners fall foul of weather

On Sunday due to the steady rain and condition of the running track the Berrilee Road run was cancelled. This is a first during my few years with the club, with many runs being completed in weather where many people would question our sanity. Of course though, runner’s safety has to be paramount in these decisions.

A chilly Wednesday night at Elephant Park saw another 100 plus turn out on the track. Young star, Connor Whiteley (9:53) just outdoing another young gun, Brandon Connolly (9:55) for the fastest 3 laps on the night.  Financial guru Russell Tym was the overall winner with a strong 13:39 for the 3 laps. Just wondering which investment / prize will he be choosing.  Also a word of warning to Ursula Wilson to watch out for Patrick Hakkinen, who looks to be gunning for you after running a great time which was over a 12 minute improvement on his previous best time.

Wednesday’s Personal Best List: Ella Lamrock 14s, Michelle Lindsay 1m19s, Frances Taylor-Wood 24s, Noah Tracey 2s, Robert Jay 21s, Caitlyn Hobbs 29s, Fred Bangert 40s, Elliot Bangert 20s, Cassie Harvey 18s, Victoria Hamels 8s, Tim Edmonstone 2s, Patrick Hakkinen 12m52s, Andrew McArdle 33s and Carly Wynne 22s.

Upcoming events are the Ladies weekend in Sydney for the Blackmores running Festival on 21st September. See Sharon Fahy or Jane Fairgrieve for details and / or to put your name down.

Henry Lawson Festival Fun Run at Grenfell today. 4km & 8km events as well as many other activities over the weekend. For further Information ring: Peter Moffit 0408699219.

Also a number of members are travelling to the Gold Coast for the Airport Marathon running festival on the 5th and 6th of July. There are 2km, 4km, 5.7km, 10km, Half Marathon and of course the Marathon. Please let either myself or Kim know that you are going (if we don’t know already), so we can meet up and support all members who are running.

Tip of the week: Especially relevant now winter is upon us – Wear clothing that is appropriate for the weather conditions.

This weekends run is the Elephant Park Endeavour Oval run with a choice of 1 to 3 laps of the 2.6km course.
