The Orange Apple Festival Fun Run is being run on Sunday 12th May starting at the Pinnacle Picnic Ground approximately 8.5km from Towac Racecourse. Runners are required to meet at the picnic grounds by 8.45 am for a 9am start, there are three distances 3,5 or 10k for  more details visit  www.orangerunners.com.au or phone Runners Club President Frank Ostini on  0417 436633. Runners are encouraged to wear red or green (preferably not together with a rabbit on the chest).

The runners club would like acknowledge the following club members and triathlon club members Tony, Danni and Kieren Syme, Dan Benton, Alison Kittel, Kim Dale, Andrew Holmes, Jess Richards, Jess Symons, Brett Sammut, Aidan Whiteley, Janet and Steve Martin, Phil Tudor, Dan Miller, Brad Robins, Jared Sullivan, Dave Selwood, Janelle Petrie, Frank Ostini, Simon Lun, Pete Egan, Andy Hardy and Paul Eccleston. All these women and men are competing in the Port Macquarie Ironman this Sunday; the Ironman event starts with a 3.8k swim followed by a 180k ride and finishes with a 42.2k marathon; not your average lazy Sunday. Over 120 runners/walkers made the most of the fantastic autumn weather and headed down Elephant Park on Wednesday afternoon for the weekly 2.8k handicap event and it’s great to see the new members starting to make the Wednesday afternoon run a real family affair.  The handicap winner was Tom Clipperton and Pb’s were run by Luka Mihalich 5 seconds and Kim Roweth 1 minute.

Sundays run was also held at Elephant Park and was the last of the 10.00 am starts. Numbers were again high with 110 runners/walkers making their way around the 1.6k loop with the choice of 1 to 5 laps. Helen Roberts completed 3 laps or 4.8k and was the handicap winner on the day.

This Sunday will see a lot of members make the trek down to foggy Bathurst for the annual 10k and half marathon. Orange Runners Club generally performs quite well in Bathurst and results will be posted in next week’s article.  Races start at 9am and entry on the day closes at 8.30am so for those who have not yet registered please arrive by 8am as entry on the day has been a popular method in previous years.

The following Sunday 12 May 2013 will be the Inaugural Narromine We Run 10k or 5k run/walk at the Narromine Wetlands for a 9:00am start. There are no online entries for this event however entry forms are available at the Orange Runners Club Sunday and Wednesday run or email narrominewerun@gmail.com .Then in a fortnight from Sunday, on the 19 May 2013 the Parkes Rotary Fun Run 10k and 5k with a 2k for the kid’s will take place online entries are available for more details visit www.parkesrotaryfunrun.com.au

Please ensure that your club membership is renewed, runners who are not financial members will be asked not to run until payment is made as they are not covered by insurance.  Forms are available on the website www.orangerunners.com.au or at either the club run Sunday’s and/or Wednesday’s. Family’s can join for only $60, adults are $30 and children $15. Please hand completed forms and money in a clearly marked envelope to Jane or Billy Fairgreive.

This Sunday‘s handicap will be at the new time of 9.00am at Berrilee Forest, distances for this event are 4 or 8.1k.
